Has anyone seen the north gate radar active? If so, under what circumstances? If they are running the radar and there is flag excercise going on, then the radar might be associated with Nellis rather than Groom. If the radar is running when nothing is happening, then it probably is associated with Groom.

I would think the radar is more likely to be associated with Nellis rather than Groom. First, the location of the site "sees" the flag flying area. If the site were associated with Groom, you would think they could put it more inside the secure area, i.e. behind a hill where it can't be seen.

I found a photo of a Soviet mobile radar rig, but it doesn't look the same as the equipment near the back gate.
