Area 4 of the NTS is used for "Nuclear and High Explosive Test", according to a DOE Land Use Zone map.
It is located about 15 miles southwest of Groom Lake, in Yucca Flat. In the 60's this area was used for nuclear tests. Today you can visit parts of Area 4 on the NTS tour, which is conducted by the DOE about once a month.
