Very interesting, thanks for the report, Ian. I remember hearing a low rumbling noise in the mornings last summer, that seemed to be associated with the takeoff of a B-2, which I often saw doing various maneuvers shortly afterwards.
Also, on my last Tikaboo hike we heard a similar sound coming from the Groom direction, around 10am, when we had just left the peak. These are just observations, and not neccessarily related to your observation.
Did you see anything fly in the vicinity at the time? Can you tell us the intensity of the sound (from where you were, compared to familiar sounds)? Did the guards react to it at all?
