I have been a long time reader of this forum and I apologize for this question becasue I know that something along these lines has been discussed before. But what scanners are suitable, sufficient, and work best out by the base to hear the radio bands being used? I am just a college student and would appreciate to know what to look for at radio shack or on ebay.
