I cannot help but think about Richard's new site, with this topic....in particular....last year, I watched an SR-71 (Dryden bird) taxiing off of the main runway near base ops. It had a strange spinal appendage that sat on the back of the aircraft, from just aft the inlet nozzles, and if I remember correctly, the end was just off the butt of the bird. I asked the person I was with what "the shit on the back" was, and they said that they did not know. I later asked someone that I went to college with that works at Dryden, and it is supposed to be some new engine technology for the NASP.

Who knows!
