The interceptors would come from Nellis no doubt. In any case, how many fighters are in the air around that area at most times of the day? Quite a few, especially from the Tactical Weapons School.
Its hard to re-direct some instructor pilots to intercept an aggressor in his F-15C.

By the way, some Nellis Instructor pilots do have clearance to land at Groom lake, that comes straight from Nellis AFB.
They are cleared only if anything is NOT going on.
As i was told, only a selected few are able to do this..
Whether or not you want to believe my Nellis contacts is up to you
However no student pilots are allowed.

If an aggressor was to head towards Groom his little cessna, it would only take a few minutes, for it to be intercepted. Even less depending on what flight Nellis re-directs.
