I went there on business some years ago--drove there from Point Mugu Naval Air Station after stopping off at China Lake to pick up some equipment. We (my technician and me) were expected and at the time I regarded the place as just another desert test range. At Security we picked up our escorts, four heavily armed guards in an open jeep who acted in a military manner, yet wore no military uniforms. We were taken to a runway or taxi-way and the aircraft we were to test taxied over as we set up our equipment. I didn't see anything especially interesting, but I wasn't expecting anything other that the aircraft we had been sent to test--it was, I'm sorry to say, just another desert test range, but security was extreme. I had a disagreement with our escorts and we left without performing our tests. Hal
