Multiple people indicate hearing odd aircraft engine sounds in those days. I was in Anaheim Calfornia for a business trip back in the late 1990s. Flew out on Wednesday and was going to set up equipment for a convention for thursday, friday and end saturday afternoon and fly back on sunday. Anyway, I get nerved up for things like that worrying about logistics and woke up well before my alarm went off and heard a very strange "rhythmic" aircraft engine sound going overhead between 4:45 and 5 in the morning. Opened the shades but couldn't really see anything - it was still dark out. Never heard anything like it before or since. Could have been anything really but it always piqued my interest.
