The forthcoming book titled "Dreamland: The Secret History of Area 51" discusses on pages 402 to 404 the history of the AARS (aka Quartz) program to develop a giant unmanned reconnaissance flying wing as a successor to the SR-71 in the 1980s and early 1990s, and as the reactivation of the SR-71 in 1995, public disclosure of the SR-72 project in 2013, and the current deployment of the RQ-180 reconnaissance flying wing UAV make clear, the contrails and "skyquakes" that were touted by Bill Sweetman as tantalizing evidence of the USAF replacing the SR-71 with a Mach 6 aircraft have been dismissed as normal contrails made by subsonic aircraft and unusual sounds made by aircraft engines not optimized for high-speed flight in the Mach 4 to 10 range.
