Good point. During the day you need an exceptionally clear day and good optics to see enough detail to even identify a known aircraft. Let alone see specific details on a test article. I have seen aircraft (other than Janets) out on the ramp on several occasions, but even under perfect conditions found it very hard to make a positive id. When you look at my 2005 panorama you get an idea of what you see under the most perfect conditions. Most days it looks more like my June 2007 shots (both were taken with the same setup).

At night, all you can see is the runway lights come on, a light taxi to the runway, take off and disappear as soon as it is off the ground. You never even see an outline of a plane.
