JB737 has a point. Some tire plug kits are useless. I have found the 'old style' brown gooey rope type plug works by far the best and multiple rope plugs can be inserted at once for really big punctures. Do be sure to have a heavy duty metal 'T' handle type plug insertion tool. A small air pump(12vdc) also a good idea.
I carry 10~12 gallons of water with me when out in the high dessert. Can't have too much water in a vehicle.
