I used to fly from SFO to LAS, nearly the same route. They usually fly over Pahrump, and then follow Blue Diamond Road. You have an excellent view of TTR, an on a clear day you can easily see Bald Mountain, Groom Lake and the two runways. Even with binoculars I found it difficult to see the buildings of Area 51, though.

There are several dry lakebeds within the ranges, so you have to know where to look. Because of the angle Groom Lake really does not look like it does on a satellite image. Bald Mtn. is a good landmark to use.
