The circular emblem with the stars was designed by and for the Red Hats. In my book, I included the history of how it came to be and who designed it. The original artwork was more symmetrical but it's become distorted over the years, as if someone remade the art based on a photo of the original applied to a curved surface (such as a flight helmet). Many other emblems related to Groom Lake have since featured som combination of six stars. The sticker inside the cockpit of TACIT BLUE was apparently put there by some Red Hats who volunteered to restore the aircraft.
