The J58 was unique in that, at high Mach speeds, the engine was only producing a fraction of the thrust of the A-12/SR. Any application of the J58 today would also require the complex system of ramps, bypasses, and blow out doors the A-12/SR nacelles used.
Does anyone REALLY think they're re-using 60+ year old engines that haven't run for 25+ years???
