The barge was actually a integral part of Project Azorian, the barge itself HMB-1 held the crane device that was installed in the Glomar Express. The entire barge was initially built to completely submerge under the boat to install the crane so the Russians could not see them putting it in because they were already suspicious that we had found the K-129 and were attempting to raise it. After the project was over it was modified and was no longer able to be fully submerged. It was then mothballed and reused once the Sea Shadow was built. Both are pretty interesting pieces of American history in my opinion. I can't believe it's taken this long to sell either of them. Link for more info.
