Everyone has their own preferences. To me it sounds a little on he high side. Its an easy 2 hours drive from Vegas to Rachel. Cruise control all the way. Mimimal traffic. Lots of different topography. Dont know if you have a rent a car but for one day you may be able to get a good deal. Not at the airport. As far as getting to the most popular spots their are various maps on the site under the maps and GPS link on your left. As far as cameras I dont shoot video anymore but for digital stills a 300mm zoom is great for planes in the air. I believe you can rent a camera in Vegas. Google may be a help.
