I watched an experiment maybe 15 years ago using what I believe to be called a 'rail gun' - this was not our great-grandfathers rail gun from WWI :) They slid what appeared to be a metallic saucer down a rail of sorts into a electromagnetic field. Once this object hit the field it blasted from one point to another at great speed. Speculation was that this could be used in transporting items from one point to another quite rapidly.I would love to hear from some of the others that may be more familiar with this technology.
