I wonder whether the fact that the lakebed would make a great A-Sat device was on Tony Levier's mind when he found the place in 1954 - perhaps not! Someone else mentioned the possibility of snow or water from the lakebed also providing a reflector at high sun angles, and snow on the rooftops of the buildings at Groom also doing this. Tom - your explanation was great. If the editor's not willing to release the original pic, would he be willing to allow it to be copied under his supervision? It'd be nice to have access to something new! Do you know whether Glen's pic is available on-line, or only in poster form? Magoo
