The terrain of the base, and the distance from the perimiter to the actual base structures, doesn't allow for a "dash" to gain access. Intruders would have to traverse miles of roads or desert to get within sight of the main complex. The interior roads, which we know little or nothing about, would be blocked by armed and determined security staff, probably at choke points. I believe the results would be serious Federal charges that would end up in prison time and stiff fines for all involved. The base could then rally the Government for additional annexation of land, expanding of the base's boundaries, and prosecution of others only interested in the real story of AREA 51. It would be like the mindless violence in Seattle that negated the peaceful protesters intent to expose the WTO as a secretive, non-democratic entity. Yes, it would be a dramatic demonstration, but would it add to the current body of knowledge, no. Besides, the intent to cross the boundary of AREA 51, and the publication of that intent would be prosecutable under conspiracy statutes, and since we know that Big Brother reads our e-mail, you may want to rethink your plans.
