Dear all Whilst not directly related to our favourite base, I believe we may have some interesting developments between Taiwan and China in the next few weeks. A party that claims to to favour a declaration of independance has won the elections in Taiwan overnight, and China is pissed to say the least. China has been threatening for a few months now to invade Taiwan and reclaim it's 'renegade province' if they declare independance. Whilst China does not have a direct military capability to mount a full scale invasion, it could feasibly blockade the island and lob IRBMs at it. On a global scale, you can porbably expect US naval and air forces to become involved on the Taiwanese side if it all blows up, and in that case, Australia, Japan, South and North Korea, and possibly some of the ASEAN nations will probably also become involved.
