The really crazy thing is, is that the US was so close to winning that war in 1972 following the Linebacker II raids. These B-52, F-111 and A-6 strikes had virtually destroyed the North's ability to supply their troops, and the Ho Chi Minh trail was all but shut down. Then the North asked to go back to the peace talks in Paris, and while they mucked around there for six months, they re-built their docks and rail lines, and were re-supplied with weapons through China. The US was badly let down by its intelligence community at that crucial time.

Today, Clinton has cut back the US forces so much, that the desired ability of the US to be able to participate in two medium size regional conflicts without drawing upon reserve forces is all but impossible. They have neither the airlift and sealift capacity, nor sifficient active carriers and aircraft to fight two 'Kosovo's', and still maintain the usual prescence elsewhere. Good one, Billy Bob!
