Dreamland references

For those of you out there who like to read the occasional techno-thriller novel, there is a few references to 'Dreamland' in most of Dale Brown's books. His first book was 'Flight of the Old Dog' about a much modified B-52 based at Dreamland. Several subsequent books have many of the same characters and re-visit Dreamland a few times, later called 'Elliot Air Force Base' after one of the characters who died in his second latest book, 'Fatal Terrain'.

Many of the weapons and scenarios in his books are total BS and can be very frustrating at times (maybe Jim helped him write them - sorry!), but for pure escapism, there's not much better for those techno-heads out there. Apparently he used to fly FB-111s and B-52s.

Some of his other books include 'Day of the Cheetah' (OK), 'Silver Tower' (crap), 'hammerheads' (OK), 'Night of the Hawk' (OK), 'Chains of Command' (my favourite - lots of F-111s!), Skymasters' (Good), 'Storming Heaven' (crap), 'Shadows of Steel' (crap), 'The Tin Man' (haven't read it), and 'Battle Born' (good).

The last in that list relates a flight of B-1Bs coming into land at Dreamland and describes how the runway appears out of nowhere. he's obviously done a bit of research on the place.

His website is www.megafortress.com, and is worth a peek.
