You're right, the MiG-25 was designed originally to counter the B-70, but the deployment at Vladivostok (and later at Murmansk and the Kola Peninsula) was to try to get at the SR-71s flying in those areas (in international airspace). The pilot of the MiG-25 that landed in Japan stated that it had been his dream to shoot down a Blackbird! Thanks, but I've seen excerpts from the book. Magoo
