Tom is correct about the NTS security.

Just drive down Hwy 95 and see for yourself.
There are no patrols or anything and if there was, it would be easy to move around them.

The border of the NTS down the side of the Hwy95 road is very easy to just 'walk' through.
Theres a small fence and sometimes not even that, just a few marker posts like Groom has.
Some areas of the fence have gates in them.

It is very relaxed between Beatty and Mercury and its very easy to walk up one of the hills to get a good view of the NTS.

I expect there are few patrols, but not lik what you would see at other bases. In fact, some normal airforce bases around the world, especially some in the UK have more security than even Groom Lake.
Patrols around the perimeter all the time, high fences with barbed/razor wire and bunkers. Dog patrols frequently also.
