(Las Vegas) Former employees at the Nevada Test Site say the government is backing down on its promise to compensate them for illnesses they say are related to working at the nuclear test facility.
Nearly a decade after a moratorium on testing shut the nuclear testing range down, workers are being diagnosed with a variety of illnesses they say were caused by testing done there beginning in 1951.

They say the money won’t cure their illnesses, but it will help their families, who have suffered alongside them throughout their ordeals.

A member of the House Judiciary Committee says it would be “irresponsible” of the government to pay the workers.
