That sounds like a LOT of overhead, even if you can work with black budget money. They may in fact rely mostly on the early warning system. OTOH, the box goes only about halfway up Groom Lake Rd., and there is a major commercial airline corridor only about 50 miles to the north. That does not give them too much time to react.
I overheard a fighter pilot getting into the box once during Red Flag on my scanner. He was chewed out royally, and ordered to RTB immediately, but there was no mention of an interceptor.

BTW, just for the record: The Pave Hawk does not routinely carry Stinger missiles, but I suppose it can be equipped with them fairly quick.
