Another good indication for night exercises is the red and blue blinking lights at the radar sites near the North Gate and the Cedar Gate. If the lights are flashing, the radar sites are active, and there is a good chance to something interesting.
The Cedar Gate radar site can be seen from the intersection of Cedar Gate Rd. and Hwy. 375, and the North Gate site from around mile marker NY 47 up to the LN county line. I actually found pulling off the road right around NY 47 much more interesting than sitting by the mailbox...
