Magoo Re: i bet your tornados couldnt do that!! Well, you have to consider the size of each aircraft, i believe the F111 is over 20ft longer? Meaning huge increase in fuel. I use to watch F111Fs and F111 Ravens all the time, when they were based at Laknheath and Upper Heyford. Magoo, i remember seeing the reports of Red flag exerices and other competitions....it was ALWAYS between Tornados and F111s for the top first place...and if i remember correctly, the RAF torny crews came out on tops 75% of the time for Low, Medium and high level Interdiction sorties. But, seeing as we fight this off in email, lets not fight it on here :-) heh Rich
However, i do BET the tornado GR1 could do it except with a few more AAR's.
Knowing the RAF Crews however, they would love to go in at 50ft! :-))) not!
Heyford is closed but Laken now operates the only F-15C/F-15E wing in europe.
I got the stats somewhere, i shall look for them and place them on here if i find it.
