The on-site investigations and crash site cleanup has been finished last Friday. The wreckage was trucked out on several flatbed trucks, in two large pieces and lots of boxes with smaller parts. Photos and a report will be on this web site soon.
The tail number of the crashed plane is AF 86 173. I was at the site right after the last cleanup crew left, and except for tiny fragments and a strong odor of JP-4 fuel there is not much left.
But I wonder what BLM would have to say about the amount of destruction of desert ground by their heavy equipment.
