The first reports said it was a staging problem, that the first stage did not separate as schedulled. Also a planned balloon drone did not deploy properly. That was supposed to show that the system could distiguish between a real warhead and a dummy. Since it really is just the second of fourteen tests, we really can't be waving the Sgt. York flag on this one. Sgt. York being the failed track-mounted 40mm air defence cannon that apparently couldn't hit the broadside of a porkbarrel. You guys on the cutting edge of aerospace developments will probably get the high-speed technical data about the failure and let us know when you do. Anyhow, if the Chinese and North Koreans don't like SDI, then I do.
