Has anyone pondered the idea of Active Noise Reduction for helicopters? The same technology that every aviation headset maker and many luxury cars use to mask sound could theoretically be used to mask vehicle noise. Using a combination of microphones and speakers, the vehicle could project a sound wave 180 degrees out of phase, effectively blocking out its natural sound. I know this works; I have a pair of Lightspeed 20XL headsets for my Cessna and I love them for just this ability.
Everyone on this sight agrees that strange, new technology is being tested in the Nevada desert. Of some of the more exotic ideas and airframes mentioned; this is a relatively simple and realistic engineering concept.
