SAR HH-60 Blackhawks are positioned at most major bases throughout the US, especially those in remote areas such as Nellis, Tonopah and Groom. As to where this particular one comes from, I could only speculate that it is most likely to be Nellis or Edwards, as these are the two bases with the closest 'links' to Groom.

It is unlikely that there is any major infrastructure or personnel in place at Groom to support ongoing Blackhawk operations. It would be prudent to keep as few support personnel (such as Admin, MX or TR personnel) at Groom as possible.

Heavy maintenance and major repairs are most likely carried out at the helo's 'home' base, and the helos seen at Groom are probably rotated out of Nellis or Edwards on a regular basis or after a set amount of hours of flight.

As for the 13 Comanches recently signed for, I think you'll find these are pre-production machines for evaluation only, as there has been no formal contract yet been signed for this helo.
