I like the stuff about secrecy in the first article. When I was working for EG&G, we hired a guy from China Lake. On his first day, we figured we would take him to lunch. As I suggested we head out, he said "You mean we can just leave? Don't we have to secure our desks?" I guess life at China Lake is a bit different than life in the commercial sector, even at EG&G. In a similar vein, I recall driving past Ford Aerospace a few times where there were red lights flashing around an office or two. While it may have been a wild party, I was told often they turn on red rotating lights when people who are not "secure" are in the area. I'm not sure how true that is since when I toured the famed "Blue Cube" in Sunnyvale (more or less a Lockheed facility), then didn't turn on any goofy lights.
