Very expensive and sometimes made more dramatic than in the real world. But don't the program producers basically tell the editors what they want in the production? I would also have to imagine that the average person doesen't know much about Area 51 to begin with. So let's say they are just switching channels and come across it. The average person doesen't know about the security forces and what aircraft is used. But people that have an interest in Area 51 such as us, are able to pick out the flaws in the program.
