That point is within less than two miles in a straight line between Bald Mtn. and Mt. Irish, which has extensive mil. communications equipment on top. Mt. Irish appears to be a key location for the Doppler Radar system, an early warning radar for Groom.
How narrow was the beam in terms of miles on the highway? What frequency? Was it coded?
I remember picking up a data signal (short data bursts) on 409.025 in that exact area, roughly between mile markers LN 24 and LN 19. The location you gave is almost right in the middle of that stretch.
