I can personally attest that the UK Mirror story is off-kilter; the seismic evidence he refers to was something I dug up, and happened to refute many months before the guy went to press.

Had he checked that fact even slightly, he would have found a huge note on my page, including my emails to and from NASA's Ed Haering, the best mind in the narrow field that studies seismic effects of supersonic aircraft.

I still think there's plenty fishy, but "journalists" being so careless dilutes what could be an interesting debate.
