Actually, I remember reading several years ago about a project (conducted by Los Alamos, I believe), the purpose of which was to come up with some sort of iconic figures or symbols that would be placed near dangerous sites. They were hoping to come up with something that would be universally recognized by humans as a warning to stay away, at least for the foreseeable future. As I said, this was several years ago, and I don't know what (if anything) came of it.
