Good question. I have heard that in the event of snooping on Groom Lake, that night vision is good, but infared is the way to go. But at 26 miles out, you run into alot of problems, all of course, due to the extreme distance. If you watched the show on Dec.5th on TDC (The Discovery Channel). You could see Steve Hauser and his footage of the base. They said on the program that at 26 miles out, you get a "white haze" that can distort the lens/view of the facility. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the temps there or not, but I'm guessing it does somehow.
