I started this thread as a gee-whiz, but now I wonder why not do a flyover. How different is a RC plane versus a satellite flyover? I recall an old Mercury News Sunday magazine article where some guys from the Defcon hacker conference in Las Vegas paid the Groom area a visit. They took a weather balloon and covered it with aluminum foil, launched it, and said some jets were scrambled to shoot it down. Anyway, if you fly a RC plane over the base and take some photos, what could they charge you with? Now if they shoot your plane down, probably with the Pavehawk, you would have no right to get your plane back. It's a funny legal question. Controlling the plane for 30 miles does sound like a challenge. I don't know if you could make a RC plane using batteries go that far.
