During the Tikaboo Expedition 2000 (TE2K) I successfully used my cell phone when I was traversing the saddle between the false peak and the last ascent to Tikaboo. I had a straight line of sight to the high ground north of LV, and that's where the cell towers are. My cell phone was dead battery when I was on the peak, so I don't know about that. I should have mentioned that earlier, but I looks like you can maintain commo during a Tikaboo climb for at least part of the climb.
