There has been much discussion about the A-12 Spy Plane crash near Area 51 in 1967.

The attached link shows a few photos of the impact site of the pilot, Walter Ray. Ray ejected after his plane ran out of fuel only minutes away from Area 51. Unfortunately the ejection seat malfunctioned, and Ray was not able to separate from the seat. He was killed on impact.

The crash site of the actual plane is several miles away.
