Do not confuse the X-44 MANTA (Multi-Axis No-Tail Aircraft), a proposed tailless F-22 derivative, with the X-44A Manta, a one-of-a-kind flying-wing technology demonstrator. The MANTA was cancelled before being built. The Manta, on the other hand, made a limited number of test flights at an undisclosed location.
