T.D. Barnes, webmaster of the new Roadrunners web site just informed me that Lou Schalk, first test pilot of the A-12 Oxcart program, is very ill with leukemia. He is at home with his family. For the latest updates see the attached Roadrunners membership news link. Lou is the first test pilot to fly the secret A-12 Oxcart, article #121, out of Area 51 on April 25, 1962. The attached photo shows Lou after the first "official" flight on April 30, 1962. Our best wishes for a quick recovery go out to Lou and his family.
