I like to think that this possibly was kept in reserve for special situations. But when I think of this I then think there must be trained personnel to fly such birds and retain proficiency, people who would house, maintain and repair it, people involved in other capacities to secure and protect the craft. Liaisons with the contractor who built it when new and unique issues develop. It wouldn't just be parked in a hangar after a flight and left for 10 years.
