Having dealt with the French, twice, during deployments during Operation Southern Watch and at a Red Flag, calling the French "allies" is a true stretch. At Red Flag (1997 I think), the "goes" were directed as high or low altitude, sometimes based on the weather. A go my unit was mission commander on was a designated high go. I still remember the French mission lead endlessly repeating "no, we go low, low, low" while waving his hand at his waist. That and their endless collection efforts made them a true pain in the @ss.
