Why would that be a surprise? It's their job to respond to any emergency or incident involving all aircraft types on the base. They would be read in only to the level required to do their job safely and effectively, however.

Basically the crash rescue folks would know the aircraft exists and the information neccessary to affect aircrew rescue and put out a post mishap fire. They'd know how to release/jettison/fracture canopies, safe seats, disconnect personal leads, shut down engines, etc. The structural fire guys would be know the aircraft exists and where it's sheltered, as well as what unique support equipment/materials might present a safety hazard to themselves or others.

Neither would know any aircraft operational or capabilities details, they have no need to know those details.
