You can be sure tech has evolved well beyond what the public is aware of. Earth should be much more advanced than it is by now. The problem is people cannot be trusted, there is too much war and hunger for power. Until the human species can learn to work together and live without conflict it is too risky to allow these advanced technologies to be used commonplace.
