This is so great! I'd heard about the Darkstar stuff before seeing this movie, I thought for-sure they'd make mention to some kind of desert testing facility and I was kinda bummed that wasn't the case. But, lo and behold! I know the Top Gun 2 production worked with the US Government/Air Force quite a bit, I wonder if they knew that these GPS coordinates made it into the finished flick. I heard that when Independence Day was being made, the Air Force was super-helpful and willing to offer people and equipment, right up until the production wasn't willing to write Area 51 out of the script. At that point they pulled out entirely.
