The folks at the Skinwalker Ranch have their 1.6GHz signal (which is likely a sat phone btw), now Area 51 has its very own mystery signal! It is on 428.0 MHz. I first noticed it this morning around 11am. It appears to be some sort of digital data signal with about 150kHz bandwidth and two distinct sidebands. It was strong here in Rachel, then it stopped and has not returned since. See attached spectrum image. The attached link is to a zoomed out spectrum of the same signal. That frequency is allocated for amateur TV transmissions and for Government use radiolocation. The bandwidth of the signal is far less than the 6MHz for amateur TV, so it stands to reason that it is a government data signal. I will post a link later to an IQ data file I recorded while the signal was active. Any comments?
