i've never really given much thought to landing gear, until I listened to the Inside Skunkworks podcast. I nearly every episode, they emphasized the fact that they often adopted 'mundane' aspects of existing technology - ESPECIALLY landing gear - because it is very time consuming to design, and there's no need to "redesign the wheel" no pun intended. So either NGAD is so cutting edge that they've decided it does warrant a clean sheet top-to-bottom reengineering...? ...or they adopted a landing gear platform from another airframe that they've decided isn't holding up so well and poses a risk?
